In a moment that has sparked fierce debate across Sierra Leone’s media and civic landscape, senior journalist and co-founder of Truth Media, Amadu Lamrana Bah, has come under direct attack, both personally and professionally, following a public allegation made during a broadcast. The backlash, led by Admire Bio Jalloh, has escalated into a disturbing campaign of verbal threats and character defamation, raising urgent questions about press freedom, accountability, and the safety of truth-tellers in the country.

During a recent interview, Lamrana Bah referenced allegations linking Admire Bio to drug-related activities, a claim made in the context of Sierra Leone’s ongoing battle against the Kush epidemic.

Rather than responding through legal or institutional channels, Admire Bio took to social media, launching a barrage of inflammatory statements and threats.

Her husband, Dauda Jalloh, was also reportedly heard in the background issuing violent threats, further intensifying the situation.

This wasn’t just a personal feud, it was a direct assault on the credibility of journalism, press freedom and the democratic right to speak truth to power.

Genius Multimedia Company, led by visionary entrepreneur and operational strategist Hassan Jalloh, has issued a strong public condemnation of the attacks. In his words,

> “This is not just about Lamrana Bah. It’s about every journalist who dares to speak truth in Sierra Leone. We are frowning against this behaviour in the strongest terms,” said Jalloh.

The company’s statement aligns with growing outrage from the journalist community, who view the incident as a dangerous attempt to silence independent media voices.

Until 2022, Sierra Leone’s notorious Part 5 of the Public Order Act criminalised libel, allowing journalists to be jailed for publishing uncomfortable truths. The repeal of this law was a landmark victory, finally recognising truth as a legitimate defence. However, this recent incident reveals that, despite the law's change, the culture of intimidation persists.

> “Before the repeal, journalists were hunted down for being radical with the truth. Now, they’re digitally ambushed and publicly vilified,” Jalloh added.

This moment is bigger than one journalist. It’s about protecting press freedom in a fragile democracy, defending truth as a public good, not a personal threat and ensuring accountability for those who incite violence against media professionals

Genius Multimedia calls on the CID and relevant authorities to investigate and act swiftly, civil society and media houses to unite in defence of ethical journalism and citizens to reject intimidation and stand with those who speak the radical truth

Journalism is not a crime, as Sierra Leone faces complex challenges from drug epidemics to governance reform, the role of the press is more vital than ever. Attacks on journalists are attacks on the public’s right to know.

Genius Multimedia reaffirms its commitment to strategic storytelling, ethical reporting, and the protection of those who dare to speak truth in the face of adversity.
